River Pools is best known for two things: a catalog organized into simple lettered series, and a design language of clean rectangles and open freeforms with generous tanning ledges. The shells are manufactured in Fortville, Indiana and sold only through independent installers, which is why you will not find a price on their website. River shells come in six finishes (Arctic, Caribbean, Diamond, California, Maya and Sandstone) and every model is designed to be automatic-cover friendly, which matters in a climate where the pool is closed for part of the year.
The R Series is a true rectangle with an open swim lane and bench seating at both the shallow and deep ends. Six sizes:
The R36 and R40 are our recommendation for lap swimmers, and every R Series model takes an automatic cover on a hidden track. Tanning ledges and spas can be added to the design.
The C Series (C35 at 16 by 35 and C40 at 16 by 40) is River’s tanning-ledge pool: a ledge wide enough for several lounge chairs, an open interior and a bench in the deep end. Around it sit the A, D, I, L, M, T and X Series, which cover freeform lagoons, smaller rectangles and compact shells for tighter lots. We keep the full set of drawings and will walk you through the ones that fit your survey.
River Pools publishes a lot of honest education about fiberglass, including the fact that a shell can last fifty years while the installation decides whether it stays level and the gel coat stays sound. That is the installer’s job. Hydroscape sets every River shell on a laser-leveled compacted base, backfills in lifts as the pool fills and plumbs for the equipment the shell will actually run, and we have done it this way since 2003.

The C Series. Both the C35 and C40 have a ledge sized for multiple lounge chairs plus an open interior and a deep-end bench. If you want a rectangle with a ledge instead, we design one into an R Series pool.
Yes. River designs its models to be automatic-cover friendly with a hidden track system, and we install Coverstar automatic safety covers on most of the rectangles we build.
The shell is set in one day and most projects are swim-ready within a few weeks of excavation, weather permitting. Patio and landscaping follow on their own schedule.
